They created fifteen substantial conversations about the issues they really care about and came back together to say it was one of the best meetings they ever had. - Most groups I work with are trying to change the world in some conscious way. But, often using the meeting methods most of us have learned and experienced before, can't help but nudge is in directions philosophically at odds with where we want that change to lead us. (Churchil said "we shape our buildings, then they shape us...perhaps the same can be said of how we organize ourselves and do work together...) OpenSpaceTechnology models many of the qualities we want to see attendant to the change we seek. For that reason alone, it might be a useful way to run a meeting that seeks to create change becuase it is about the DOING, not merely the THINKING. Rarely do we get to do in our endeavors for positive social change, at least as much as we get to talk. So, without much effort, partipating in open space teaches you things unrelated to the content of the meeting.
