The Essential Work of the Project is Bringing People Together. Inviting. Making Connections and Expanding Circles. Contributors, Developers and Participants. And Replicating. In this way, the SmallChangeNewsNetwork is a sort of ongoing Conversation or Conference for the Common Good.

Comments, Questions, Suggestions (add new comments on top of the list, please)
I've been experimenting today with http://del.icio.us - maybe could also be a useful piece of this puzzle? A sCNN tag there could span the entire internet. Maybe not as a rule of sCNN, but as a practice for those also using that tool? --TedErnst 11/14/04

Consider partnering with Identity Commons (www.identitycommons.net)and creating a virtual entry point where friends, members and networks can register into a "commons" space (set up as a public entity - where the space is owned, operated and governed by the participating identities). (comment added by JulieEvansCaldwell; 9/24)

the structure as pencilled out is already owned that way. it's totally distributed, everybody owns their own blog, their own news. and everybody gives away posts comments in anyone elses space that they want. the only 'lock' in the whole place, only owned asset is the Network News blogroll which is just a central list of everyone who's replicated my initial blog page. anyone can copy that, and the only gate is that the owner of that blogroll, as current tech is set up, would have the right to add and remove names. adding and removing doesn't change the status of the blog added or removed... only the listing... and if someone is removed and thinks it unfair, they can post to the public blogroll and say so... then other Network Members could choose to add the blog in questin to their own lists... so in the end, even the owner of the Network blogroll is not ultimately in control of anything. We are already there, julie! --MichaelHerman

There's a good chart explaining the value of I-names at:

[1] I-names

[2] Identity Commons

Also, you might want to look at how Phil encourages his bloggers to use type-ID at [www.gifthub.org]

This suggestion has more to do with generating interdependence around and with the concepts that support ethically opensource development. You might want to think about how the Network Newsblog might work beyond it's own identity - and look for ways to help unite individuals to stay connected over time - given changes of address, etc.

Is there room for people that want to play with you on this? The whole shebang seems MUCH larger than I saw it at the conference and it's feeling (from the outside, if there is an outside) like it's your show, or that you're making it happen with people from Interra who are already making their own stuff happen. Anyway, are you looking for people to work with you or are you looking only for suggestions or what exactly are you looking for (if anything)? --TedErnst

Taking a break to go to Nepal and facilitate some days of open space and appreciative inquiry for the best possible future of Nepal. Back end of October. THen will sharpen up the invitation to help here. Essentially three things needed: friends to spread the word, project bloggers to join the circle, and organizers with their own circles of project bloggers (or projects to blog) in order to create their own Network News Node. Then there is also room for technical tutoring and tipping, and content suggestions to help me clean up the language. But first we make some space in Nepal. Thanks! --MichaelHerman 9/24
