What is this?

Here are the working definitions and explanations for the various sections of the [Weblog]. Soon these will be refined and built into popup windows linked from the main blog space.

SmallChangeNewsNetwork - Emerging as an online clearinghouse for news and information, connections and contributions -- for ordinary, but passionate, individuals who are starting and running extraordinary community projects. This is about small change that really adds up. Who is making a difference where you live? Is there a small, but remarkable, local project you like? Do you know an ultra-dedicated organizer who gets things started, gets people moving, and gets things done? Can you help us find a few active citizens who always have more projects than funding? These are the people we want to connect. Theirs are the projects we want to support. Even better if they have a weblog we can link to!

Main Blog Section - Currently, the weblog is being written by project initiator MichaelHerman. Later this year, we will create an email structure that will allow many others, any others, to post news and information, connections and contributions for friends, partners and network organizers to read. It will be moderated but not edited, and open to anyone who is actively taking responsibility for the issues that they care about. It will spotlight the answers to our Strategic Giving Questions.

Strategic Giving Questions - What do you want (to see in the world)? What do you have (to offer)? What do you need (in order to respond now)? What are you willing to do (if you get it)? We believe that if more and more people are asking, conversing, blogging and acting on these questions, more and more of what we have will be connected to more and more of the things we need in community. More action will happen, led by GivingMarket/LittleIndividuals and more or what we want will show up in the world.

Headline News - The last ten postings made to the Weblog.

Local News - A "blogroll" listing of "project blogs" we know about. Consider the bloggers linked here as members or participants in the network. They are doing remarkable work at the local level, and writing about it so that it can be funded, shared, refined and replicated. Anyone with a "common good" sort of project is invited to add themselves to this blogroll of active citizens. Funders are encouraged to troll this roll for something(s) that excite them... and then get in touch with the project leader(s). Start the conversation!

Network News - A "blogroll" of other Network Nodes, weblogs like this original sCNN weblog, created by groups who already have (or want to invite) their own member group and their own collection of member project blogs. They replicate the original sCNN blog, share the logo and the Network News blogroll. They grow into Network nodes that are equal peers of the original sCNN blog.

Extra! Extra! - These are the little guys, on the street, yelling it out... spreading the news. Many people are helping to link to sCNN and the other Network node sites. We acknowledge and reciprocate those links in the Extra Extra blogroll. These are friends of sCNN who might or might not every have a specific project or network blog.

News You Can Use - There are a number of excellent, free resources that make sCNN possible. These services and tools are acknowledged and shared in this section. It's not meant to be an exhaustive list of resources, that's between you and Google. These are the big ones, the essentials, and the tools we rely on directly for the growth and development of sCNN.
