{"id":330,"date":"2005-04-05T18:07:00","date_gmt":"2005-04-06T01:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.smallchangenews.org\/wordpress\/?p=330"},"modified":"2006-08-22T21:31:37","modified_gmt":"2006-08-23T03:31:37","slug":"the-four-practices-settling-nicely","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michaelherman.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2005\/04\/05\/the-four-practices-settling-nicely\/","title":{"rendered":"The Four Practices&#8230; Settling Nicely"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--111274324648578758--><\/p>\n<p>Still, yes still, rolling around with this notion of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalchicago.net\/wiki\/wiki.cgi?OpenSpacePractices\">Four Practices<\/a>of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalchicago.net\/wiki\/wiki.cgi?OpenSpaceTech\">OpenSpaceTech<\/a>.  Finally occured to me today that these map perfectly to the four D&#8217;s of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalchicago.net\/wiki\/wiki.cgi?AppreciativeInquiry\">Appreciative Inquiry<\/a>.  This came as no surprise to my partner in crime here, Chris Corrigan, but it did make me wonder if teaching these practices still constitutes teaching OpenSpace.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight, I&#8217;m settling toward naming these four practices as&#8230; Welcoming, Inviting, Organizing, and Reporting.  These labels link solidly back to the basics of Opening Space and still reach out and link easily to other practices like AI.  There&#8217;s a nice symmetry and balance to them as well.  <\/p>\n<p>And, even as I say this, I&#8217;m really liking the way these same practices have shown up in the four practices that make up my own professional practice, as I&#8217;d posted it earlier this year in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalchicago.net\/wiki\/wiki.cgi?MichaelHermanAssociates\">MichaelHermanAssociates<\/a> homepage:  Big Picture, Next Steps, Best Ever, and How To&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Feeling good about how these are settling and yet still staying open and flexible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Still, yes still, rolling around with this notion of the Four Practicesof OpenSpaceTech.
