Got out running twice this week in shorts and a t-shirt in glorious London sun. You know what that means: the end of indoor kite-flying season!

born in march, gotta love kites! haven’t flown one in a long time, though. i like the sound of ‘deep sky reel’ my brother and i had these big clear plastic kites with airplane shape painted on them, so you’d put it up there and it would look like a plane. we put one of them up for days, tied to the picnic table, on all the string we could find. took us forever to get it back in. we should go fly, andy! …though i’m totally booked for the next two months. maybe before i leave in july.

Looks like a lot of fun, that indoor kite-flying… much safer than my last birthday, when we tried indoor sky-diving.

You fly kites? It used to be a minor obsession of mine, but before dual-line kites had really caught on. All mine were single line, but I made a couple of “deep sky reels” that had – I’m guessing here – over 500 feet of line. Could have been a hazard to low-flying aircraft.
I still have them all stashed away somewhere…
